Summer Science Scholars Academy

The Summer Science Scholars Academy (S³A) is a fee-based three-week program designed for high-achieving secondary school students and/or those in gifted-and-talented programs who plan to pursue a career in medicine. This is a non-residential summer experience.

Curriculum

The curriculum focuses on exploring the human body through a series of lectures, organ laboratories and clinical experiences. This program does not offer high school or college credit.

Program Hours:

Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (12:00 pm to  1:00 pm lunch break)

Program Location:

The program is held at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School located at 675 Hoes Lane West in Piscataway. At times, clinical activities may be scheduled at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Eligibility

  • Students entering grade 12 or current academic year June graduates
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.5 (out of a 4.0 scale)
  • New Jersey resident

2022 Program Dates

We will NOT be offering the program this summer.

Students wishing to apply for the Summer Science Scholars Academy must submit the following:

  • High school transcript
  • Letter of recommendation from a high school math/science teacher or guidance counsellor

Fees

  • Tuition: $2,500 per student (Scholarships are not available at this time.)

  • Housing is not available
